I have a major problem that Ford can't help me with. The battery on my 2002 T-Bird is stone dead. It's located in the trunk. In order to get to it I have to push the trunk release button that is located on the driver side door. Get the picture? The battery is DEAD! The release button won't work because the battery is DEAD! I can't get into the trunk where the battery is located.

Any ideas? Ford customer service said to call the local Ford Dealer Service Manager. He said to call customer service.

Is there any way I can get just a second of power to the car just long enough to give it enough juice to get that button to pop the trunk open?

YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE OUT THE BACK SEAT AND GET TO IT FROM THERE

This problem has come up before , since you own the car , I think I would get me 2 of those cigarette liter adapter ( you plug in your lighter ) I would wire 2 of then together an then when she dies , just plug it in another vechile -- like a jumpstart. ( DONT TRY TO START THE CAR OFF THESE PLEASE ) . But you will have enough juice to open the trunk. Just dont store it in the trunk , Cause when you need it it will be worthless .

why dont you use the key to open the trunk. or plug a home depot charger into the lighter.

or look under the hood there shoudl still be a positve terminal some where. i dont think people would be that dumb to make it so you cant jump a car.

Did you look in the owners manual for a MANUAL TRUNK RELEASE pull or lever?

I can see it could be keyless - but I'm not set on the brainless factor yet.

In addition to the button trunk release, there is a keyed release located behind the driver's seat that opens it without power. Surprising that a Ford dealer could not provide this information. (good luck finding a battery anywhere other that a dealer for this car)

ps: I imagine you have solved the problem by now
