i had some idling problem, the change everything and finally i was told the ECU was damaged coz of washer fluid dripping on it...can 05 ecu fit in 06 van...can somebody give me idea where a aftermarket ecu can be purchased

You could try the junkyard websites to order one. However, I am courious, are you out of warranty at this time? There is a TSB from Fordfor the 06 for water intruding the ECU area in the fire wall. This should be taken care of by Ford?? ANd if they tell you it is due to Washer fuild, how by color? Then it was defective from the factory............

thank for reply, i am using this van as taxi so its already 126k done way above 60000km, whats tsb u mean, i got it checked from ford dealer and they foundwindshield washerspots around ecu area, but dealer told me nothing was covered by ford

It may not........It would definitely be if you were under warranty. Have your service rep run the TSB (technical Service Bullitens) for the 2006 model. It is my understanding that this particular TSB came out in June/July 2007. You may still have a loop hole, and that is that the vehicals ECM is also an emission device and you may be able to get Ford repair as the water intrusion in to the ECM is a known defect........Good luck

i tried everything to convince ford but of no use, but i got hold of 05 ecu for 4.2L freestar, can this fit mine, as its numbers is different from original ecu

Check with Ford or salvage yard they can cross reference part number for different years.
