Can anyone tell me if it is possible to replace a failed CVT in my 2006 Ford 500 with a 6-speed? The CVT has been a problem from the day I drove this vehicle off the lot. According to what I can find, the 6-speed will fit "physically" however, I am concerned I am potentially overlooking processor/computer issues making this change. Any advise?

Thanks!

If you find a 500 with a 6speed tranny in the boneyard or anyplace else, get the computer to go with it. As long as the tranny harness are the same between the 6sp and cvt there shouldnt be any issue. We have been computer swapping in Gen1, Gen 2 SHO's for years. The MTX cars have been swapping out for a 92 MTX computer a 94 ATX for the auto SHO's

This is my first time on this site so not sure how to direct this question to bamsho who replied to replacing the CVT transmission with a 6 speed in a Ford 500. Can this be done in the AWD version as well. I would like to purchase a Ford 500 AWD but the reports on the CVT transmission is enough to keep me away. Soon I may find an AWD with a blown transmission and if so I want to know how to replace the CVT with a 6 speed. I would have no interest in a 500 that was not an AWD.

Thanks.
