How hard is it to replace the fuel filter on a 2002 V6 Escape? I just got back from a 6 hour trip and it acted like crap. No power going up hills, shifting funny, and also the belt tensioner is squealing (also have ringing in my ears from listening to the stereo really loud so I didn't hear it). Not sure if I will EVER by a Ford Escape (maybe even Ford cars). I loved this mini-SUV when I bought it!

I have a 2003 and Just yesterday I replaced the fuel filter. The ideal way is to have it on a rack.
The filter is in plan veiw at the rear of the tank and is easy to replace.

It is easy to do, I just did one in the parking lot at work a few days ago. Took about 10 minutes, if that.

Actually I released the pressure at the fuel rail and used an empty coffee can, which are fairly plentiful at the plant I work at, to catch the minimal amout of fuel that was lost. I think I may have lost a few drops that splashed onto my wrist, but I would not consider that to be to harsh on the environment or myself.
