View Full Version : Welcome... Introduce Yourself... 04-09-2004, 11:40 PM My name is Amanda and I am the Admin of this snazzy new forum. I'm 23, live in Michigan and love fast rides... :) Who are you? Welcome to the site! ~Amanda TheGmKiller331 04-13-2004, 03:20 AM Im "TheGmKiller331" but all of you can call me god or "KING-DING-A-LING" either will be fine.:D 04-13-2004, 12:57 PM Wecome GMKiller... glad to have ya here too... ;) ~Amanda roundman 04-15-2004, 02:10 PM Hi, I'm the one and only, the original ROUNDMAN! I'm a retired maintenance engineer and I'm older than dirt and I live and drag race in central Virginia. My race car is a 1988 Mustang GT that I bought new many years ago and I tow it to the strip with my 1997 F150 pickemup truck. I hate Camaros, all years, all models, don't matter to me and I love it when I get the chance to smoke one at the strip! Anybody can build and race a damn Camaro, it takes a certain amount of skill Camaro owners aren't capable of to build and race a Mustang! I love and grew up on 50's and 60's rock and roll and hate the new music and ghetto blasters with overdone stereos that shake the windows in my house when they drive up the street. Just wish one time I could get my hands on a rocket propelled grenade and I'd show em what I really think about their damn rap music!:D I know a fair amount about cars and mechanical things, so don't try and BS me or I'll be on your case like stink on doo doo![sm=smiley2.gif] And don't be showing your ignorance using bad grammar and misspellings and abbreviations I don't understand in your posts either![:'(] Other than that, I'm a really nice guy once you get to know me![sm=smiley9.gif] 04-15-2004, 04:24 PM Welcome! LOL! Thanks for the back round info!! Sure am glad I don't have a Camaro, LOL!! :):) Glad to have you here! Whats up peeps. I am 19 be 20 um May 6th. I Live in Texas Corpus Christi To be exact. I am from Missouri. I am in texas Because I am in the Navy So They made me come . Anyways I Drive a 98 Ford Mustang Convertible GT SRS With some mods. Not much Got a kid on the way. Anyways Sup peoples????????????? beth04 04-28-2004, 03:45 PM hey, my name is beth, im 17 an' live in KY. i have a '89 tempo gl that was given to me. Any ideas on how i can spruce this thing up, i mean, it needs something! its red, but im painting it black. mileage is 15k... obviously rolled. do u guys know of any kinda body work i can have done to this thing that would make it look presentable at least? roundman 04-28-2004, 04:37 PM sounds like you need a Maaco paint job! you could try doing some body prep before you take it in for paint like thoroughly washing it and then wet sanding it with some really fine wet sanding paper to remove all the old oxidation on the existing paint and this will help prep the surface for the new black paint your talking about. you might also consider stripping the paint completely down to bare metal, but this is not a home type job for a 17 year old unless you really are careful. another possibility is to check with the local vocational schools to see if they offer any body shop work as part of their training for the students, maybe they could look it over and give you some ideas on what it needs. ViciousFukus 04-28-2004, 06:06 PM i have to go with the oldman on this, i mean roundman just messin with you man manni 04-28-2004, 07:03 PM hi, my name is manni,25yr old. i am new to the forums.i am from uk. i have a ford transit lwb van,i just put a air filter on,it has made improvement in the performance i am fitting an stainless steel exuast on this week, it might sound that i am mad but i love my tranny, the problem is it won't go more than 83 mph, can anyone help me please thankyou thewire 05-03-2004, 02:27 AM hey guys victor just walking in the door would lik to say hi to everybody here and hope not to make a fool of myself here so bearr with me if i do but anyway hey everbody;) beth04 05-05-2004, 06:57 PM Thanks for the adivice roundman! Besides the paint, I plan on doin' other stuff to my car as the cash rolls in. I think some nice rims would complete the look - but i dont want a 18" chrome 'fake plastic look'... i think 15's or 16's, gunmetal, would look nice, 'specially with the black paint job. any ideas? roundman 05-05-2004, 07:47 PM some nice pin stripes to accent the black paint might be a nice addition especially if you go with a monochrome paint job in all black. black is a hard paint job to make look good, but done well, they are really nice to look at. I prefer dark shades of blue myself, but to each his own! just add some color accents like some fine pinstripes to break up the monotony of the all black color and it will look great. L355ThanZero 05-11-2004, 12:43 PM Hi, my name is Kevin and I am the proud owner of a ford ranger. 94Flare 06-24-2004, 05:39 AM Hello! My name is Tim. I am from Nebraska and I have several Fords but my 94 Flareside is my pride and joy. Her name is Ruby. The Truck is a Mark III conversion with the all leather interior, with mahogany wood door and dash accents, a mahogany overhead console, and a mahogany floor console between the bucket seats. The overhead console has vanity lighting and the controls for the lights, the radar detector, and the power sliding back window. She has 136,000 miles at the time of this post and has only need minor repair work with the exception of a new transmission. Currently Ruby is all stock but I have a 1972 302 that is getting a 347 stroker kit, mild turbo setup, and a ZEX system being built at a small shop in Plainview. It will be installed in my 88' F150 4X4 for a 10,000 mile break in. Ruby goes into the body shop in July for repairs due to a hail storm we had here in Norfolk. I am also having all door dings and scratches removed and a new coat of base clear with an ample amount of metallic flake applied. When she leaves the body shop she takes a trip south to have the plastic bed liner removed and a custom cherry wood bed is being built and installed by J.C. Enterprises located near Geneva Nebraska. The truck sits on Uniroyal Tiger PAW 60's on Progressive Deep Dish Alloy rims. The truck currently sports an Alpine AM/FM/CD player with 4 Alpine co-axial speakers in the stock locations, and a subwoofer with 2 10 inch competition drivers and a 200Watt mono Alpine Amp. I own my own computer service business so I am currently collecting the necessary components to build and all PC based audio/video system with GPS navigation and wireless web access. The goal is to have a street drivable truck that is still reliable and doesn’t look like every other farm pickup in the area. I would love to post pics of it if you can tell me where and how. carls66vw 07-11-2004, 02:59 PM I my name is Carl, since someone else here said they were older than dirt, I can't use that one..OK, I am almost as old as dirt. That is if 62 is old? I am retired from the U.S. Navy. I subscribe to a mag called Cars & Parts because I like the older cars. I am currently attempting to restore a 1966 VW Bug. Drive a 1995 F150, nothing special but it gets me where I want to go. Also have a 1983 Chevy Monte Carlo that is to be my next project. Heard about the forum from a friend of mine. Did I mention that I am 62 going on 20? Later, Carl. roundman 07-11-2004, 03:03 PM I guess we can both be older than dirt since we are most likely the two oldest ones on this forum. LOL Good luck on the VW restoration, they're fun little cars to mess around with. carls66vw 07-11-2004, 03:06 PM Roundman, it looks like we have something in common..We are both old but think young. My son once mentioned that he wished I would grow up. Can't afford to waste the time doing that. Later Carl. carls66vw 07-11-2004, 03:08 PM Roundman..Thanks for the welcome. Where in VA? I was stationed at Little Creek for 4 years. Carl. roundman 07-11-2004, 03:14 PM I live in Chesterfield County just south of Richmond and race my Mustang at Virginia Motorsports Park down in Dinwiddie, VA south of Petersburg, VA. My youngest brother who's 49 now did a hitch in the Navy back in the late 70's early 80's, served on the CVN 69, USS Eisenhower for almost 4 years. He was older than most of the recruits he served with too. He can tell some damn funny stories about his service which I'm sure you can too. carls66vw 07-11-2004, 03:19 PM I sure can..After 23 years. My last job was at the Recruit depot in Orlando..Found a home here, can't leave. If I learned one thing while serving is those "so called kids" who are out there busting hump, do a fantastic job. If you stop and think about it, most of those sailers and soldiers out there are 17 and 18. When the chips are down, they are there to put it on the line. There you go, getting me started. My brother raced oval track and figure eight for a couple years in Iowa. Never did get to watch him because I was traveling all over the world. Carl. Nerocavallo 07-11-2004, 04:05 PM Welcome Carls66vw! XFGHIA 07-12-2004, 08:49 AM Hello, im Ahmed.. from Australia and i accidently found this site when i was typing www.fordforums.com and forgot to put the 'S'... so i thought i might check this out.. nice site ;) Ive posted my Aussie ride in the new members forum: http://www.fordforum.com/tm.asp?m=495 and is this US only Fords? regards Ahmed Nerocavallo 07-20-2004, 12:36 PM Welcome. This a Ford site but there are other sites out there for pretty much every vehicle made. F150Pony 07-21-2004, 05:16 AM Hey 94Flare - Hi Tim How's it going. I'm new too, but I figured out what to do with the pictures. At least it has worked OK so far (once LOL). I am not that pleased with the convoluted method to place them near to where you want in a text based post. (more work) Works easy if all you want is a stack of pictures at the bottom. Two clicks, some selection clicks and they're up. Hopefully, somebody with more knowledge will offer a better suggestion. Look at the bottom left of an open editing window. There are two actions available. "Click here to upload!" This one will allow you to upload up to 5 images from your system. Watch that you edit the posted image size to a max of 640 x 480 pixels. Action 2 I think the upload only attaches the images to the post, but does not make them visable as the other control is an OFF/ON click action "Embed picture in post". To arrange images within a post. 1.] Upload the desired images. 2.] Click on Preview to check the written portion of your message. 3.] when it's what you want - Click on OK 4.] Check that your pictures showed up OK - edit/delete any that aren't working. 5.] In the edit mode, look for the text string that represents the image you want to move elsewhere in your message. highlight and cut (control X) the image string. 6.] Move the cursor using your mouse or the arrow keys to the desired place in a post. 7.] Then paste the image string (control V) 8.] Click OK again - then notice they keep track of that! Go in just to fix something and you get logged All this should work with a Macintosh as well, only you use Apple Command Key, rather than the ctrl key common to both Sample - see 67Dream's post Oxnard in the House (http://www.mustangforums.com/tm.asp?m=137783&mpage=1&key=𫥰) in the Mustang Forum 2 pics F150Pony near the "Foothill Fire" 7-19-04 Santa Clarita, CA and preping for Wireless WAN at Ojai Unified School District 7-15-04 lets see what happens when you upload - but don't click on embed Yep no pics just 1 link & then you need to hit it twice to look at both pictures (#2 is the right place but wrong pic) That was a week earlier - Now they are embeded in a stack per the process above. local://upfiles/303/31429B57A1AB4BE182E715209DFFB065.jpg [&o] I guess an alternative method would be to load the picture stack 1st remember the order and then write around them. Be darned if its easy to equate your pic file name with this "upfiles/303/31429B57A1AB4BE182E715209DFFB065.jpg" = NTS by Santa Claita Fire local://upfiles/303/F7EE787D79344D34BBFA982E01B0B690.jpg F150Pony 07-21-2004, 08:54 AM Hi Ford People Reading above, I guess that makes me younger than dirt, but at 56 and divorced 19 years I'm single and I'm way closer to Carl66vw and Roundman than the admin moderator or anybody else in this thread. I am also an unabashed enthusiast for all things Mustang and Ford Trucks. LOL If I was born again I'd be dangerous. My friends call me an evangelist [sm=smiley15.gif], I call myself a pimp [sm=smiley16.gif] for Mustang Clubs and their charity car shows. I am involved with 5 Mustang Clubs (2 are co-joined), 2 Ford Truck Clubs, 2 Mustang Forums (so far) and now this one. (wow this makes 2 whole posts [sm=smiley8.gif]) [sm=smiley17.gif] I keep a carry on type file box filled with show/event flyers and club information in my truck. I like to go to Chevy shows because I rarely need to pimp a Mustang one (Except the All American Car Show hosted by All Mustang & Ford Club which has 6 GM/Chevy classes & 6 MoPar classes) which reminds me - July 31st AMFC's All American Car Show (http://www.allmustangandfordclub.com) I've always come back to my roots, but I have room in my heart for others. I grew up with Fords. Drove a Ford Tractor @ 7. Was on streets by 9. Worked on a '55 F-100 show truck (helped wet sand) @ 11. At 14-18 got to ride horses before there were paved roads and tract homes in Camarillo. Helped build a rod at 16 My first ride Believe it or not in 1964 I liked the Chevy Malibu - Chevelle - more than the new Pony Car. In 1966 I got a '64 Chevelle In 1967 I fell in love with Mustangs, but I had already traded down for a VW Kombi (VW Van with the 3 windows) and which worked better to hold my surfboards/skiis, etc. In 'late '68 got a '62 Pickup, sold that - then I got 2 more Kombi's in 1969. MY First new Car In 1970 I scrapped one of the VW's and got a '70 GT6+ Triumph Coupe. In 1974 I got an E-150 that died of old age and in '80 & '81 I got two more. Vans were cool and hip back then. I worked with one and traveled in the other. In 1988, I saw a heartstopper and got one like it a week later. Chevy Camero IROC Z-28 - Red with wood dash paneling. Lots of speeding tickets later it got wrecked in '94. My '81 E-150 died in 1999 and I got a new F-150 instead of annother Van. -$6,000 dollars and + a 5 spd with the F-150 vs E-150. local://upfiles/303/21D538450CEC4A8EAFBC1E3F630E5410.jpg I am the golf hacker level webmaster of 1 Mustang Club with 2 more agreed to (which I should be working on now LOL) and got talked into asuming control of the Santa Maria Museum of Flight website too. They are all volunteer positions. I work for a company called Quicknets Communications (http://www.quicknets.com) I have been with it since before it was really a company(1998) . Now we are the people to see for the best Voice Over Internet Protocol installations in the Southwest. Other than that, we still build the fastest most reliable computer networks period, and we can proove it with documentation & certification testing from our client installations. The phone stuff (VOIP) reguires me to build a similiar network - newer Smart Jack 3Com technology used exclusively with our VOIP systems now make it all portable. The Smart Jacks move with the business - 1 cable can now run 3 computers plus the VOIP phone all at gigabit speed. I used to plan for 4 to 6 cables to each location to get the same quality/quantity in a computer network design. I'm still amazed - 1 cable 4 devices going faster than my DSL connected network at home. Ford Forum Discovery - I bounced over here from the Mustang Forum which Google found when I was trying to find "The Shaved Ice Guy" online (no luck) All I found was FlyFord - AMFC's founder and president. Anyone that is a So Cal Ford Nut (excuse me, enthusiast) Should seriously check out this car club (forget about the car show above - look at the wide spectrum of activities.) All Mustang & Ford Club of So Cal (http://www.allmustangand fordclub.com) I'm still kinda new at Forums, despite a degree in information systems & designing and building the networks used to make them work for more than a decade. I'd never even gotten my toe wet (so to speak) until after the San Diego Mustang Club's Mustang's By The Bay Car Show on October 5th, 2003. There I met a bunch (36) of cool folks with Ford trucks and SUV's. Windshield Banners, decals and Signs proclaimed this group to be Ford Truck World (dot) com. An 18 year old there "FrozenF150" infected me & my truck with something called "Modthrax" in FTW which is difficult to cure and expensive to maintain. Jason Coe is sharp, a nice kid and developed good sponsors. I still knew nothing of Forums (& they presumed it was a given I did) But I knew alot about car clubs and the internet so I figured it would be a breeze to find this great Ford Truck World club online. Boy was I ever wrong [sm=smiley31.gif] The site was just so totally huge. (It's not so intimidating now with the resdesign last December) Last October however, even their list of car clubs didn't have it, though the pages all said Ford Truck World up top. Couldn't see the forest for the trees. I was in the right place surrounded by information, but not what I wanted to find. Three weeks of exploring later (about an hour a nite with 1 hour diversions on a regular basis) I timidly ventured into their California Chapter Forum for the first time and asked if I had the right place. Was this the "truck club" in San Diego? Happy ending, it was!! Since then I've been to more car shows, BBQs, Brunches and Cruise nights than my regular clubs can schedule collectively. It has quite litterally changed my life (for the better I think). I'd never done much more than change the oil and wash my truck in it's previous 5 years of existance. Now I'm running 31's, have spent hundreds at Phoenix Imaging for carbon graphite (not installed yet) and meet real people at our real world get togethers and at normal car shows. 94Flare and Carl66vw you both should check out the Ford Truck enthusiast site (and the forums therin where the people are) Ford Truck Word or FTW Trucks (http://www.ftwtrucks.com) I'm a member over there and hang out a lot in the California Chapter, but there are now over 105 Thousand Members World Wide and chapters for a lot of other countries too. 2 million visitors a year, something like 35 thousand posts a day. [&:] Note to self -You say too much and type too slow on top of it, not a good combination!! [sm=smiley11.gif] Nerocavallo 07-21-2004, 07:16 PM Man, you guys are old! I'm just kidding! I'm 24 and age has nothing to do with how you feel. F150pony- Got any advice on wet sanding? I love FordF150.net (http://www.fordf150.net) FTW is okay and there a lot of good people on there but there a lot of flamers too. FordF150.net (http://www.fordf150.net) is smaller but growing fast everyday and there is so much great information. votefortom 07-26-2004, 09:17 AM Hi. From Australia. 23yo. Builder. On my 5th ford at the moment (2000 AUII wagon) but think it's a piece of sheeet. After another one, few ideas but maybe an EA with a rebuild and a powerdyne/vortech/garrett induction to push the 300kw. Had a decent paced falcon before but slammed it into a freeway underpass. Good to discuss stuff here. Always got heaps of questions and usually find someone somewhere with a bit of advice for me. Glad to help anyone else out too, if I can. They make kits that bolt on diesels to make lots of extra HP and torque. You can find some of these products in the Summit Racing Catalog @ www.summitracing.com Hypertech and maybe Superchips also make plug in computer upgrade tuners for some diesels but don't know if they have anything for the 2005 models yet. I retired last year myself and spend a lot of time now drag racing my Mustang at the local strip. Enjoy your retirement!! Hathoway 04-10-2005, 04:58 AM I was just wondering what I can do to make driving my Ford Ranger Edge more fun to drive. I don't know much about modifying my Ranger but I'm thinking of getting an exhaust, a cold air intake, perhaps a chip, perhaps supercharger though my ranger probably isn't worth doing that to. I have a 2K3 Black 3.0 liter 5-speed 2wd single cab Ranger Edge. I guess I should've gone with the more powerful version of the truck, the 4.0 liter if I really wanted to modify it and it be worth it, but since I didn't, I'd just like to get some more kick out of driving it. I probably only need an exhaust just to make driving it more enjoyable. Anyone have any suggestions for an exhaust. I don't want a flowmaster exhaust. I've heard of people saying Gibson exhausts are ok, magnaflow exhausts increase power, some people really like their custom exhausts. Would custom exhaust be my best bet because it'll probably be the cheapest. I'm sure that this has been asked a few times but through most of what I've read, I haven't gotten many answers other than just see a custom shop...Thanks in advance James San Pedro Ford 04-11-2005, 02:41 PM Hello everyone. Late, Ish 04-14-2005, 03:20 PM WELCOME EVERYONE!! :) ~Amanda solo_one 04-17-2005, 08:29 AM Ok, i'll give this a try. My name is Gary, I hail from Central Ohio, I am 37 and just bought a 99 Ranger Flareside which is the first Ford I have owned in about 10 years. My current hot rod is a slightly modified Pontiac GTP that is running in the low 13 second range and still pulling 28-30mpg, and my cruiser is a low mileage red LeBaron convertible with the 3.0 V6 5 speed. I am a mechanic-fabricator by trade, specializing in industrial maintenance. myforddreams 04-20-2005, 06:28 PM Hi my name is Joe, I'm 40 from just outside of New York City and while I'm new to the internet, I'm not new to Fords. I've had quite a few over the years and currently own a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4. I've had old and new Fords, and from the little Festiva to the Crown Victoria. I love Fords of all shapes and sizes. I recently got online, being dragged into the 21st century kicking and screaming. So I jumped in with both feet, by starting a blog devoted to all things Ford. If anyone would like to see it, www.myforddreams.blogspot.com , it's not too fancy, but it should have something for any Ford fanatic. If it's OK with the site admin, I would like to post a link to this forum? deuce zer0 04-22-2005, 02:15 PM Hello. My name is Matt and i just bought an 05 F150 this week. SSHUNTR 06-27-2006, 07:24 AM Hi, I'm Tom. I wanted to buy a new Shelby GT 500 but my wife hid the check book. She said " you have a good car thats paid for" Meaning - I also have an oppressive mortgage... Christian Ed tuition for my kids... gotta heat the house.... any way, the paid for car is a 93' Crown Vic that I really do love and would like to keep. I'm 6'4" @ 210# and these cars are the only ones I can sit in with any comfort, other than the stinking mini van! I deceided to pump a little cash into it and make an SS killer out of it. Any tech help would be GREAT! I'm going to start with air flow and suspension then move on to detail - I'm thinking State Trooper Blue or Black. Thanks FF for the voice and the place to meet some new gearheads. P.S. DavidS 09-25-2006, 10:40 PM Greetings, Just joined here, mainly to ask some questions and acquire wisdom on maintaining a couple of Fords in my family. A little about myself, I'm a 40 year old computer network technician who lives on the west side of Michigan. I used to do most of my own auto maintenance, but as I moved up in the world, I got out of working on cars, now I've started getting my hand back in because I do find I enjoy it, and saving a little money isn't too bad either. Please don't hate me, but I really don't have too much brand loyalty. I currently own two Fords, a 1997 Taurus and a 2000 Explorer, and a Toyota. In the past I've been known to drive GM stuff; Buicks, Chevys, GMC trucks, and a Pontiac. I primarily go with whatever auto I can get at the right price/right time that does what I want it to. However, I really would like to get my hands on a new Mustang GT ;) I tell my wife that the mid-live crisis is coming, and a sports/muscle car will help get me through it :D Regards, Dave masterexploder 09-26-2006, 07:43 PM hi guys my name is matt, and i live in phoenix AZ. i'm 19, and work as an aprentice tech at a ford dealer ship. i only have 1 truck, and that is my 1977 f-250 ranger. larry45723 09-26-2006, 10:47 PM hello to all : i'm retired an starting my first restoration on a 65 gaxley 500 Racerkat 09-27-2006, 01:23 AM My name is Meredydd (pronounced Meredith). I'm an SCCA racer and obviously car lover. I'm looking for a 1991 Ford Escort GT to replace one that died of an electrical fire this summer. Right now I'm driving a '95 Miata MX5 (same engine, that's why I bought it). Fun car, but I need something bigger than a breadbox. mach3 10-10-2006, 11:58 AM Hello, I'm Dave (DJ) I'm from central Indiana, Got out of cars when I started my family, now I'm "Papa". When the 05's came out I fell in love with the style of the new Mustang and wanted to get a base V6 and play with it after the warrenty ran out. Some how though a 03 Mach 1 w/4k on the odometer followed me home instead. Needless to say I'm back into cars again.:) God Bless my new wife, after owning the car for less than a week, she looked over and said "I love the car the way it is, but how can we make it louder and faster?" So Far; MAC H pipe, Glass Packs, preditor tune,K&N filter,4.10 gears, and for looks on the street it wears Chrome Mach1 wheels 9X17 front 10.5X17rear wrapped in BFG G-Force kdws., on the track I use the stock rims in front and light wieght Cobra Clones (9X17) on the rear with MT Drag Radials. NeedAnswersPlease 07-29-2008, 06:20 PM Hello I would like to get a second opinion on my wifes car. Her check engine light is always on. Sometimes it goes off and then it will come back on again. What could be some of the possibilities of whats wrong with it? She has a 1995 Ford Escort and I had my Moms husband but the scanner thing on it but it said nothing was wrong. Thats because the light was not on at the time he was doing it. Then her idle is up too high or something because when it is in drive or park it idles real bad and feels like it wants to take off real fast or something. I dont know that much about cars but would like to know if you could help us. Oh and her engine gets very hot real soon. Please help me understand. Its got the 5.4lt boss . Hayapower 08-03-2008, 11:57 AM Welcome to the site.. BasiliskSt 08-04-2008, 11:51 AM My personal ride is the 2005 Ford Focus ST. Decided to register today after driving to the airport and thinking how much I still love driving the Focus ST. It's tight at 65,000 miles with no rattles no squeaks. It looks and drives brand new. And I've had zero costs beyond regularly scheduled maintenance. The ride and handling balance is beautiful. It cuts and thrusts with verve. I can pick a line and the Focus tracks perfectly. The on-center feel and steering is so much more linear and direct than the major competition. I could afford a bigger, more powerful car, but love light sporty front drivers. The 2.3 liter in the ST has great torque and the perfect sporty sound. The brakes are strong and well-balanced. I've used the anti-lock brakes enough in panic stops (darn freeway driving) to testify to the ability of the Focus ST to stop as well as it accelerates. Ford knows how to build reliable driver's cars that are a joy to drive and still affordable. The Focus ST is just a thrill. I love the beefy leather wheel and the chair height seats. I've driven hundreds of miles at a time and still been comfortable. That's remarkable in a C-class "economy" car. At 6' 1" and 200 lbs, none of the competitors offer me both the legs and comfort. The Corolla has no sense of direction and the Civic's low seats just don't provide the long distance touring comfort that the Focus provides. All this and I've averaged more than 30 MPG over the life of the car. That's pretty remarkable in that its spent a lot of time at 70-75 MPH. It will turn 38 MPG at 55 MPH but my routes are more Interstates west of the Mississippi or in town. I needed to share how much the Focus still makes me grin with someone. The Focus is deceptive. The styling is purposeful but lurking under the economy car is a credible front wheel drive sport sedan. I'm waiting for the new rush of Ford sporty cars in 2010. I expect great things from both the new Focus and the new Fiesta. My wife's new Milan is impressive too, averaging 27.7 MPG with the same 2.3 liter in a bigger car. My daughter's I4 5-speed manual Cougar is still reliable at 96,000 miles, again with no service required beyond regularly scheduled work. (We did have to repair the CD player, but an exploding pop can probably occasioned that minor repair.) She "inherited" the Cougar from my wife and will be ready for a new Cougar or Capri when she graduates from college in 2010. Thanks Ford. carlosgwiley 08-04-2008, 05:22 PM new to the forum 2002 Forest Green Ford Exploer XLS, 2001 Walnut Mercury Sable LS, and the lone 2005 Alabaster White Chrysler Crossfire Limited Roadster. love stomping in the explorer |
