i am new to the boards and i need some help with my contour and this
looks like a place i could get some helpful answers
well when i start my car up u can hear a whirling noise
i can hear the engine it sounds okay but that whirling noise it like added in like background
and int he dash my lights seatbelt light like fades in and out so does my head lights
i did put in a new alternator ( if spelled right ) about a few months ago so if anyone had this probelms and knows what
going on, all help is appreciated

whirling noise...does it sound like somethings kinda grinding? could be one of your pulleys (bearings) ..idler pulley, belt tensioner pulley or your water pump.

Contours with V6 are commonly plagued with what sounds like a camshaft bearing noise emitting from the passenger side seemingly between both cylinder banks. This is common and doesn't seem to be a problem except for a trace of oil leakage down the block. Mine's done it forever, and I test drove another that did the same thing.
