I just had my transmission fluid and filter changed and now my car makes a clinking sound when I shift from park to reverse or visa versa. The mechanic doesn't seem to know what it could be. Does anyone have any idea? It didn't do that before he changed the fluid. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

I had a 93 ranger that did that, I was told that it was play in the rear end that cause it. Also it could be a loose drive shaft.

You can always bring it to a transmission shop for a free estimate. Problems like this are hard to diagnose over the internet.

I would inspect the U-joints on the driveshaft.

Seems like if it just happened after changing fluid. could be something up with that. Is true that over internet hard to figure out. Ya, know what kind of clunking noise. To difficult to try to tell someone what the noise sounds like or what ever. How long have you used the mechanic that changed the fluid?

sounds like the u-joint is going bad now.

My t bird occaissionally does that ('95T) clink sound ,I also had a e150 ,1976, that did that. Sounds like u joints.....be conservative on the gas, getting to a u joint on a TB is a royal pain due to limited access...+$300 job here in Tampa.
