I have a '99 Ford Contour and every winter I have a problem with my door not closing. When I try to close it, it just bounces off the frame. The door will workwhen it the weather is warmerbutuntil thenI can't even lock it.Do I need a new door or can I just replace the latch?
Also, can anyone tell me what recalls actually exist on this car, and what can be done about them?

Thanks

If you can get it to pop back spray it real good with WD-40 this should solve the problem

Probably just a latch issue. IIRC those latches are covered with a rubber coating that starts to come apart and hangs up the door latch.

My sister has one of these cars and called me with the same problem this morning. I can operate the latch by hand, but it will not remain latched (I can unlatch it with just my fingers without having to use the door handle to release it.) Does that sound like the typical symptom from the rubber coating? If so, what is the best fix? If not, What is the next step for me to try to fix this?

had the same problem with my tour, its a 95. pull the door panel off, along with the "foam" insulation. water runs down the jam and some how gets into the latch. i warmed mine from the inside of the door with a torch and it worked fine. then coat all the parts with a nice bearing grease. havent had a problem since. note (i have electric locks.)
