I test drove a new Chevy Silverado with a 6.0L and a 6 inch lift and 35 inch tires. They didnt gear the truck correctly and it was a dog! They should have changed the 3.73 gears out for 4.11's...would have helped big time. Also, the front window seemed confining and the seats were not very comfortable (leather).
I then test drove a F150 FX4 with 33 and a 2 inch leveling kit. This truck had more balls and the view was real nice thru the windshield. The seats were much more comfy (leather). It may still need lower gears too but it drove nice down the freeway.
I have still yet to drive the Ram truck with the Hemi... has about 45 more hp so that may sway me....
Any ideas or comments? (Be nice! lol)
what do you plan to do with the truck? mostly street? 50/50 street off-road? all off road?

I have to admit it that I use a truck mostly for the street. I occasionally use it to pull my sand rail to the dunes but primarily the truck is just for looks. Gotta look good! lol
then I would stay with a independent front suspension and stay at or under 35’s you will like the ride a hole lot better and still have durable front end parts. 35’s really push the strength limits of a stock independent suspension drive line. Since your not doing to much off roading you will be ok. Just be careful when out playing not to over power your traction and let the truck ease though and mud or sand.

Sounds like good advice! I have a sand rail I run hard so no need to hurt my ride home! lol
What do you drive?
Working a 1990 f150 back into an everyday driver it was pretty raged out replaced the worn 302 and the AOD trans. next is the AC we need them things in Texas. But my toys are 67 fj40 with a 91 350 corvette motor, SM420 granny 4 speed trans and locked stock axels on 34's. 90 Toyota 4 runner 3" lift with 15" of wheel travel on all tires, high hp 3.0 V6 (that was a nightmare to do) and a 1970 Buick GS clone 455 400 turbo trans got the drive tran done need to finish the suspension and body work.

your house must look like a parking garage! lol
Yes it does and it drives my wife nuts (I say she already is). But I’m building a 30x40 garage. And it’s actually worse than that, I also have in the driveway a boat, a 2003 Astro van and a company truck. I’m sure my neighbors hat it and me but when the garage is done it will help a lot.

Skip you got it right about the A/C here in TX, where abouts you form?
Grew up in the DFW spent the better part of 20 years in Arlington and Ft. Worth. I moved to Texarkana about 6 month ago (job) yes I’m still in Texas could not bring myself to leave. I’d rather be a redneck than a hillbilly. Don’t really know if one's better than the other??? I just know we have everything it Texas including the best looking women! You know that living on the beach.
