I have a 2002 v6 explorer xlt 4wd. Today the vehicle suddenly would not start. I was getting wild variations on the instrument gauges but the starter would just click. I managed to jump it off once and get it home. I went through all the relays and fuses in the pdb and fuse block and they check out fine. I purchased a new battery and the vehicle will now turn over but I have no fuel pump, gauges, seats will not work and the interior light is out. I rechecked the fuses and relays and they appear to be fine. Any suggestions?

Check for fusible links at the starter solenoid

HOW ARE YOU CHECKING THE FUSES, JUST LOOKING AT THEM, IF SO, GET A TEST LIGHT TO VERIFY POWER AT BATTERY JUNTION BOX. TRY TO INCLUDE MORE INFO ABOUT HOW YOU TEST SO I CAN HELP YOU MORE, QUESTIONS, JUST REPLY.

i also did have that problem just tonight, luckily i was at the mall where there was a security car to jump start my explorer ('04). i arrived home, turn off the engine and it won't start. but tried to start it again it just won't crank....the lights were faint, no gauges... but it would come back after awhile... i saw my battery was still ok(free maintenance battery)

any suggestions?

thanks...

Hello, I own a 2004 Explorer. My owners manual pages 233 & 234for battery states that when a new battery is installed the transmission must relearn its adaptive strategy, the clock and preset radio stations must be reset.
Maybe this has something to do with some of the issues you are experiencing?
Cheers!
