Hi,

Any advice on where to start looking for the cause of the passive shoulder belt retractor not working or on where I can find a link?

It's stuck in the fully upright position and won't move to allow you to get out of the car. It's a real pain to slip in & out of. I think it may be a limit switch or something but don't know where to look for the sensor or what to check for once I find it.

I guess I need to know which sensor is supposed to supply a signal at what times to make this work.

My local shop want anywhere from about 180-450+ to diagnose/repair this. Please Help!!!

Thanks in advance!

there is a switch in the door frame that controls the interior light. my guess is that this same switch also runs the seatbelts and the emergency chimes to tell you to close your door. if this is the case, and that switch is bad, the car will not know when the door is open, and consiquently, when to move the seatbelt forward. Try this- set the dome light so that it turns on when the door is opened. when only the drivers door is open, is the light on? if it is not, your door switch is probabilly bad. I know that they go out quite frequently. You may be able to order the switch from NAPA or even find one in a junk yard, although you should test a junkyard switch with a multimeter, and it is anyone's guess how long it will last.

The door switch was it!

Thanks for the advice!

It was $3.00 at the local salvage yard.
