Hi,
On my 2005 Taurus 3.0L OHV Flex motor
noticed AC Compressor cycling on and off continiously a few months back. Also started hearing noises from Compressor as if bearing was going. Thinking I must have a leak, added freon with lubricant and the marker dye. Was never able to find leak. Seemed to help with constant cycling and tempered the noise for a while. Fast forward to today. Compressor is getting real noisy. Does'nt help when I unplug Compressor. Trying to decide if I should replace AC Compressor or just run a shorter belt and bypass the Compressor.
Any advice about which direction to go will be greatly appreciated!!!
Have heard defrost won't defog windshield if I bypass Compressor.
Is this true?
Do I have to remove AC Compressor clutch to provide clearance shorter bypass belt. Anyone know what length belt I would need?
Thanks, Kevin
