Default changing transmission

I have a 2000 mystique(i think taurus is pretty close, but im not a ford guy so i dont really know) anyways it has a v6 24v DOHC engine, auto transaxle. the transaxle needs to be changed (maybe its not broken, but she wants me to change it)... as i am new to this ford/mercury i am unsure of my course of actions to get this tranny out, seems to me i should lift the whole engine and transaxle out of the car and do the work, but i would like to get another opinion on this... thanks for your help

Default Omg

I'd sooner take a kick in the nuts than change one of those mothers.

The subframe must be removed and engine supported.

Then twist your fingers in the shape of a pretzel before you start.

My advice is to farm it out.
