Default Bumper Hitch

The rear bumper of my F150 has an integral hitch with 5,500 lbs trailer weight and 500 lbs tongue weight. Obviously, it can tow a 5' x 10' Cargo trailer with maximum GVW of 3,000 lbs.

My questions is: Is the bumper hitch good enough to do the job? Or is it better to install a Class III trailer hitch?

If that is the trailer you are going to tow, the bumoer hitch will be fine. I just like the idea of a bolt on full hitch for towing. Gives peace of mind. But I have haules a 5,000 pound trailer on the bumper of an S-10 also.

I tow a 3 seater jet ski in the summer months from my bumper hitch without any problems and that probably weighs about the same as your "loaded" trailer. If I decide to pull much more weight very often then I would install a receiver hitch for safety.

I think bumper hitch is good...and there is no need of installing others

Here's an update: I was able tow the 4,000-lb cargo trailer for 300 miles with the bumper hitch. NO problem at all!!! Thanks all for your input. That saved me $$$ from purchasing a trailer hitch.
