Default Daughter ran can out of Tranny Fluid

My daughter had a slow leak in a tranny cooling line. She drove for three plus days with tranny "slipping" before she said anything to me. I repaired the leak and refilled the tranny. Now the car only works in reverse and 1st. if you try to drive the car in drive, when it goes to shift into a second the tranny slips and engine revs. when the car slows enough to shift back into 1st you can go again. Did my daughter kill her tranny or is there a chance this can be repaired?
