Default Check engine Light

Hi all,
My 1997 Aspire up for smog test vand I've had the Check Engine light on for a while, yet it runs sweet. The fault code is P0470 and relates to the Engine exhaust pressure Sensor circuit.Any ideas of what a quick easy fix may be?Only this one fault found.I looked around the EGR valve and noticed a wire with a connector just hanging there directly above the alternator.I cannot seem to find anywhere that it may plug into.Perhaps meant to be hanging and not used??I can't seem to come across any other Aspires out there to compare.
Thanks for any help out there.I'm brand new to the forum.

Thank you kindly for the quick response.I'll have a good look around to see what I can find. Are these parts easily available to find these days despite Aspire's years short lived? Is there anything like a sensor in the exhaust system as per P0470 that may be suspect too?
Thx
Jim

The EGR Boost Sensor would be the prime suspect.. (Shownin the pic) DTC's P0470 and P1195 are amalfunction in the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) boost sensor circuit/sensor...

Is this boost sensor still an available part to buy from FORD?
Any idea of part number for it?
Thx

I checked over all the elec/vacuum connections and reset everything.Ran the engine and light came back on with same fault/P0470.

Looking at Fords cataloging 'images' on the EGR system for your application, (or any part for that fact), is hard to pick out the EGR Boost Sensor as its an exploded view.. The pic I posted earlier is WAY better than the parts department.. They now use alot of generic (poor) pics for most applications.. It looks like, and the listing calls for 'EGR Control' as a combine parts panel.. I'm not familiar really with Aspire, but looks like they only offer (still available) the complete control panel.. The DPFE sensors for EGR pressure/flow for other MY's/applications or Ford products fail 'quite' a bit..

If I'm getting the correct info. as to the panel (and it incorporates the EGR boost sensor), it lists for 150.00!! Hard to believe that it wouldn't be sold as a separate part..
Before 'guessing' the part at that cost, the system should beproved out as far a circuit/s.. Unless maybe you can get a used unit from a salvage yard for a test..

You might also try taking a look for a restriction on the port for the EGR boost sensor...
