burning a new chip 94 f150 4.9
I just have a few questions. I have a 94 f150 with a strait 6. I reprinted the mo for and did a ignition upgrade about 6 months ago. I want need more power. I have a 87 Daytona Shelby z its a turbo, and you can put a machine socket on LM or ecu to change injector pulse ignition curve etc. Just wonder if anyone has made custom chips for my year f150. I only get 11 mpg with stock tires. And no performance. Everything was replaced when I rebuilt motor. Its a 5 speed m50d I put 3.55 axles under it and it still sucks. Maybe I should have bought a dodge. No I love my truck. Any suggestions would great.also no emissions stuff on motor egr, cats, made solid fillers for air injection, no belt on air pump, all vacuum lines redone. Running true dual exhaust with glass packs, k&n cone filter.

I'm not sure if there's a chip to upgrade performance on that engine. I to have a 94 f150 with the same setup and I don't have any problems with it. it gets a little better than 11 mpg but then again I know trucks ain't made for mpg they.re made to haul and work. I think you need a little bigger cam and that will give you a little more hp but at the same time get less mpg so there's a compromise that has to be made

I wouldn't mind the gas mileage if I had power, drives like a real dog almost no power. My dads 01 dodge ram gets 13 mpg and its a auto with a 360 4x4. What I'm saying maybe the mileage would be more acceptable if it put out more power. Before I put the 3.55 in it you could hardly take off on a steep hill. Maybe bigger injectors? An adjustable fpr and a wideband AF gauge to get the mix rite

I think you might need a little back pressure on the exhaust something tells me that engine breathes a little too well. I don't know if you're going for speed or low end torque. if it's the pulling power then that's what you need to do if it's speed your after then you might want to give that up because those engines were not made for racing

a six cylinder needs more rpm than a v8. you may need to go to 3.73 rear gears to get the rpms over 18-2200 rpms on the hiway with the larger gear ratio, you will be spinning the engine faster giving it more power, but you may be using less throttle as the engine won't be working as hard.. don't get carried away by going to 4.10's or higher. you will be out of the economy range for the engine. probably pushing close to 2800 rpms.. don't worry about not enough back pressure. a stock engine has plenty. now if you ground out the ports and was using headers along with a big cam. you won't get good mileage no matter what you do for gearing and you would need the high rpm for it to run properly.
hope this helps..
