Default Can you post a few pics?

Hello Mike,

From your post, do you still have the 1968 Torino S code? I have been having a real hard time getting information and stock pics of 1968/69 S code Torinos and Rancheros. I own a 69 Ranchero GT with an S code 390 and C6. Problem is, all the pics I usually see of cars so equipped, have been modified. I would like to check out some in depth pics of a totally stock engine bay. I don't suppose yours is stock?

What area would you like the pics from? It is how I bought it, except I installed factory steel valve covers in place of the aftermarket chrome ones and i added the air cleaner...i have a fan shroud to install yet and a new water pump spacer. Mine has the clutch fan which is prob not stock and too close to the radiator.

A few pics of the firewall, both sides of the engine bay and a front shot would be nice. What did you do with the original air cleaner on yours?

Default console advice

I removed the chrome aftermarket air cleaner and installed one I got from a friend. It might be from a 429, I did not compare it to a stock 390 4bbl one.
These are all I have..prob not much detail. I did not compare mine to any other known stock engine compartments, although the machine shop told me the distributor is off a tooth because the vac advance should point towards 7 o'clock instead of 5. It runs like a raped ape so I'll prob leave it alone.

Looking for a new console. I've seen new fiberglass ones and new abs ones in online catalogs, anyone have any input? Mine is pretty much not repairbale by a novice anyway.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the forum, and looking for any pictures or info on fan radiator, crank pulley clearance for 69 torino gt 390 engine.

I restoring the car, and currently almost ready to fire up the newly rebuilt engine. When I bought the car a few years ago it was complete except for radiator and fan (becuase it was in a front end accident). So now I have engine and rediator installed with a 7 blade flex fan. Without a spacer the fan hits the crank pulley. If I move it out 1 1/2" it is 1/2" from the pulley, but is 3/4" from rad. My concern is the flex fan may hit rad. and / or pulley.

Any picture of fan/rad/pulley would be appreciated, and information on fan/fan profile/fan dimensions, such as : does fan blades protrude from the mounting surface and by how much?

Thanks for your help.

the only way for your fan to hit the radiator is if your spacer is too big or your flex fan is backwards
