Default 302 to 460 swap

Have an 88 Bronco with a 302. Been offered a 460 to rebuild and drop in it. Concerns i have: Will it fit? Is my 4sp AOD trans man enough to handle it? Over all work worth it? If it makes any difference 460 is out of 89 F350.

Well, I'm pretty sure you aren't looking at a straight swap here. Blocks are pretty different so mounting points are going to have to be modified. Not sure if your tranny is a direct fit, either. If it fits the tranny will handle it for a while, but most likely will wear out especially if you plan to do more than drive back and forth to work.

However, a 460 would kick a$$ in that Bronco!

I realize the post is 7 years old, so one of three things has happened.... either it's still got the 351 in it, or you did it and found out what Dad and I learned, or you got shed of the whole thing

We did this to an 86 F150, put a 460 in it. Needed to basically swap out the suspension and motor mounting ears (towers) from an F250 to get it to line up right. Once we did that, it was a straight drop-in procedure. Oh, and that damn thing would SCREAM, too!

That one had a C6 in it, no idea of whether the A4OD will handle a 460.
