Default loose steering on 93 bronco

Hi, I am working on fixing my dad's 93 bronco for him and was kind of puzzled by a problem he has had with the thing for years. For years from what i can remember is this thing has a really bad problem with the steering wheel having like close to 1/2 inch of play or more in it, it was bad enough to where my mother refused to drive the truck because she was scared of it. My dad has never had the problem looked into but i heard it is something with a nut and bolt that needs to be tightened on the steering gear box. if anyone has had a similar problem or has a picture tutorial on how to fix it please let me know, I plan on purchasing the bronco here in a couple months after i leave for Iraq. thanks for your time

Checking the steering box mesh load would certainly be one of the things to look into.. Also, the radius arm bushings considering it's age (if original), the upper/lower spindle ball joints, as well as all the steering link ends.. I can send you the steering box adjustmentproceedure if you need it..

cool, that'd be great. the bushings and all that stuff as far as I know are all original, I have been in and out of the country so much over the past few years it's hard to keep track of all he has replaced and everything. I can ask next time i hear from him. right now my main concern is just making sure the truck is fit to drive from North Carolina back out here to Texas.
