Ford Contour While only built on a short time span, the Contour was very popular with people of all driving styles, from the base model making for a great family car, to the SVT making a great track toy.

Default Motor/transmission Mount Replacement (98 Contour 4 cyl)

I think one of the motor or automatic transmission mounts on my 1998 Contour (4 cylinder) is bad. It has the symptoms of this at least. Given the age of the car and the stress they are put under, I kind of think the others can't be far behind. I'll have to have a mechanic perform this work. If I do all the mounts at the same time, will I come out ahead money-wise versus having each replaced as the mounts fail?

I think this car has four or five mounts for the engine and transmission. Two front, one on top right (near the strut tower), and two for the automatic transmission. Is this correct?

Thanks for any advice.

I have changed as needed also. I will tell you not to expect a miracle if you are using after market mounts. I have had some of the Anchor brand mounts that after putting on, was happier with the old worn out ones. The Focus has a mount on the passenger side, that is called a hydraulic mount. I never would even think about putting a cheapy there. Some of these cars only has after market mounts that you can get, and that is very irritating.
