Default 08 crown vic police car

Hello all,
i have a used 08 police intercepter. It is fast but not as fast as i thought it would be. We have a track here and it went up to 128 then just like i let off the gas a little back up to 128 and again. I'm not to worried about that cuz i never will go that fast except on the track. What bothers me is the take off speed. I was blown away by a 1989 camaro with a 350 in in when i asked what he did to it he said nothin but dropped a suburban engine in outta a 92. So in theory a 92 suburban could beat a 08 police car??????? Never saw that on cops is there anyway to increase the power without buying a suburban engine? (being funny) what's the deal? Why is the police car a slugo?

Just remember the 4.6L engine is a lot smaller, has less torque, has less horsepower, more weight. That is about like trying to drag race a Chevette against a Mustang. The computer in your vehicle has a fuel cut out programmed at 128. The camaro does not. Are you wanting top end speed or 1/4 mile speed? You can have the PCM reprogrammed somewhat to help you in your quest. Just have to find someone willing to do it.

def not top end, I'm not able to go over 128 anywhere plus gets kinda scary that fast in that big boat. I have found a fuel chip??? online for 25 bucks that tricks the computer into thinking it has cold air which advances the timing, any ideas on that? Im sure i could get more outta the 4.6 it just seems like it has been nuetered by the previous owner (city)

You can also wire a resistor into the coolant temperature sensor to fool the PCM into thinking the engine is colder and dump more fuel. Radio Shack under 10 bucks. It may cause some drivability issues though, not sure. We do not modify our vehicles and I also work for a local city government. We keep them all stock as do most agencies.

I guess you can say it is governed. The PCM shuts the fuel off at that speed. That is the loss of power and then surges back over and over. Just get a couple of resistors from 2 to 3 ohms to 5 to 10. Then cut a wire , wire it in and try it. Just cover the connections really good so the wires do not touch any metal. You can wire to either wire.

In the wiring to the temp sensor. You will need to experiment with the esistors until you get what you want.
