1991 LTD Crown Victoria Radio Issue
Hello everyone new here. Just bought a 1991 LTD Crown Vic the other day. 91,000 original miles, one owner, garaged since new. Has the 5.0, and looks brand new. Would love to get pics up soon. However, I've noticed a problem with my radio. When i turn the volume up or down, the volume level shoots up radically, and becomes immensely loud, then quite, then loud again. Sometimes it just stays really loud. If I turn the radio off, then adjust the volume ****, the volume level stays normal. It has the Stereo Radio system, anyone know why it is doing this?

Sometimes the internal windings of the volume control get dirty and loose contact.
There is a liquid that might be available at Radio Shack that you apply to the shaft of the volume control and it gets rid of the problem. I have never had an instance where that didn't correct the problem, but if it doesn't you may need to have the volume control replaced.
