Default 1991 Vic Throttle problems.

Hi,

My 1991 Crown Victoria wagon'sthrottle keeps gettingstuck at half throttle, Ifi press the gas pedal to full throttle itget's stuck at half throttle when i lift off of the throttle. Also when this happens i can't stop the car unless i shift it into netrual because it seems that i am getting little braking force even when i push the brake to the floor, But any other time the brakes work fine. I am ats whitt's end with this car. This morning when i was leaving i shifted it into reverse and it would not stop i ended uphitting a pole in the backyard. If anyone has any ideas about what is happening PLEASE let me know.

sounds like the accelersator cable is getting hung up under the hood or the throttlebody arm is getting jammed. i would look under the hood to figure out why it isnt operating the way it should

forgot to mention, many times the butterfly in the throttlebody gets buildup in there and needs cleaned out. i would remove the upper plenum if you can do so and clean out the whole assembly where butterfly and things are in there along with the ports of the lower intake if you manage to get the upper intake off.

I once had one that had a bad tps. not bad in the sense of check engine light bad...no since they are made of cheap plastic the part that rotates inside the sensor was sticking in random places and the engine would scream. remove the tps and check that its operating correctly and snapping back to the stop
