Default 96 CV turns over but will not start

96CV 80kmi well maintained runs great no issues until this happened this morning. The engine turns over but will not start. Does not try to start at all as if no fuel/spark is present. I have a parts car and I tried swapping some relays with no luck. I stumbled on mention of the crank position sensor causing this type of problem. Any way to check the cp sensor? I understand the A/C compressor must be removed to get to it. Any other ideas of what I could check before pulling it to the mechanic? I was going to check out the fuel filter in the morning but you would think a clogging fuel filter would give some sign of clogging before just completely stopping up. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Couple of suggestions.

Have you checked for spark?
Have you checked the fuel pressure?

I would check for spark first. If spark, then check for good fuel pressure. If good fuel pressure, Spay some fuel in the intake with a spray bottle. If the engine fires up then the injectors are not injecting. Check to ensure all grounds are clean and have good contact. A GREEN ground will keep the injectors from injecting fuel.
You could also have a bad TPS sensor. If the sensor is shorted in the open
position (over 80%) the ECM will command a clear flood mode.
