Default Problems with Fueling.

I'm having difficulties when fueling my 2004 Crown Victoria. It has been an progressive problem and it is now to the point that it will bearly take fuel except as a very slow rate. I put it on a computer program and got the following the code " P 0442". Do not know if this code has anything to do with the fueling problems or if it is another independent problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!! Thanks.

dont stick the gas pump neck so far into the filler neck of the car. you can try turning the pump handle upside down when fueling also. only times gas pumps do that to me are at specific stations. usually it is the pump itself and not the car.

Check the vent line to evaporation canister. Mine had spider cobwebs in it. Blew it out with compressed air. Problem solved.

" P0442" is Evaporative emission control system leak detected...usually a fuel cap or vent line issue...

Check rubber seal on gas cap for wear and check vent line for blockage as recommended by fourbuds

I got codes that were related to fuel pump, I changed the pump with a new ford replacement. Two weeks later the pump failed ford put a new pump in. two weeksafter that ford chance the the fuel pump module and replaced the pump again, you guessed it the pump quit again. Also it's slow taking gas when I refuel . Anyone have this problem or any ideas?

Default Fuel Pump

This car is a P71 car with a fuel pump module in the trunk . I am wondering if it uses a differant pump then the normal one. Maybe that's the reason the pumps keep burning out.
