Default Quick Crown Vic question

New to the forums here so a little info first. I have a 91 Crown Vic I got from my dad. The car has maybe 35000 miles on it, 302, and basically loaded. He let it sit for a couple years before he decided he couldnt drive anymore and gave it to me. So far I have replaced the dr side window motor but still need to do the other three, needs the A/C compressor replaced, and the odometer and trip odo quit working right before he parked it. Its showing 29995 miles right now. After some reading on here I found the thread about the gears in the instrument cluster that I can replace to get these back working. THX for that.

Now the question, it needs the intermittent wiper/blinker/high beam controller, Do I have to take the steering wheel off to do this and if I do, how do I disarm the airbag?

I am going to do the speedo repair and intermittent wiper/blinker/high beam controller at the same time and if all goes as planned I will take pictures and do a little write up.

The multi function switch unbolts from the side. Remove the steering column trim and you will see 2 little torx head screws that hold it in place. When you remove speedo, be sure to unkook the gear selector string or you will have to buy another.

OK thanks for the information on the selector spring. Its the little things like that that will save money and time. I am going to be doing this in the next couple of weeks.
