Default Swapping 2001 brake pedal into 2000 model

Greetings all......I am a new member posting for the first time, My Ford is a
year 2000 Crown Vic LX (obviously) I bought new. It is a low millage cremepuff I have taken into retirement with me and it may well be my last vehical IF I can work out a few nagging issues. I turn to this group for assistance with one.
My wife doesnt care for my Vic because the brake pedal is at a awkward height for her and is too small. She recently had a minor parking lot fender bender when her toe slipped off the pedal,The pedal was missing the rubber at the time (since replaced) and this contributed a lot, but she is still nervous about driving my car.
So I researched the web thinking I might retrofit the "power adjustable Brake and gas pedal" option that came out in 2001. It was available in the LX trim only. I found that this was a popular retrofit and there are webpages dedicated to it.
But it isnt exactly cheap. and the needed parts arent all easy to find.
After looking over the assembly photos carefully I noticed that the NON adjustable brake pedal in 2001 was obviously physically bigger then the one
in my 2000. I dont necesarilly need adjustabillity, What I do need is the larger pedal surface and at a lower cost its a no brainer.
Can any one comment on whether a standard 2001 non adjustable brake pedal assembly will replace the one in my 2000?
thank you very much
dvaugh
