1987 E-350 460CID Carb Gas Start Problem...
1987 Fleetwood S26 Jamboree C-Class Motorhome:
Date manufactured: 04-10-87 (APRIL 10, 1987)
Engine: 7.5 Lt (460 cu in)
V-8 carburetor gasoline engine, fuel pump in gas tank
Model: Econoline E-350
VIN No:IFDKE30L3HHB58086
Transmission: Automatic
Transmission: G
Exterior: 176
Type GVW: E303
Body: HK
Axle: 53
DBO: 863566
Dual-Battery System
Motorhome has been sitting up for quite a while because of gas prices. When I attempted to start it by turning the ignition switch on and engagind the starter the engine turned over normally, but when I released the ignition switch the starter continued to turn the engine over.
Even turning the ignition switch to OFF did not disengage the starter. Removing the key didn't stop the starter either...
I had to remove a battery cable to stop the starter. Now when I attempt to put the cable back on the battery the starte begins to turn the engine even with the ignition key out of the ignition. Everything seems to be fused in the run position... What do I do?
Any ideas why this is occuring and how to fix it?
Thanks,
Al

Thanks go-part! You are right on about the solenoid. I had had a new one installed last year so didn't think it was that, but my local mechanic told me to rap it with a hammer and that worked so I bought another new one and installed it...that did the trick...starter system works fine now. Thanks.
