As I posted before. all the manual ;lock hardware is gone. The back door of the side pair, has no lock. They count on the front door of the pair preventing it from opening.becaue you can't get to the handle with the front door shut.

It seems like you are attempting to open a latch that is in the locked position. As you say the manual stuff has been removed, but how did the door latch get into the locked position? If the electrical components were never removed and they are not working ,The latch is still in the locked position, yes/ no ? Otherwise when you pull up on the cable it should release the latch.

Can you get your hand in there and move what the solenoid would move to move it onto the unlock position? Until that is done , the latch will never release the door.

There is no lock on the door I can't get open. The other side door must be open to access the handle to open that one.

We are talking about two fold out side doors right ?
And the forward door has to open before you can open the rearmost door right ?
If I understand correctly , you cannot get the forward door open, right?
If that is the case, and your door has electric (solenoid operated door locks) either you would need to make sure the cable can contact the release part of the latch which very likely is presently moved out of the way so pulling on the cable by-passes the release arm which is held out of the way and will not open the latch. Does this make sense to you?

The light just went on upstairs, maybe I can offer some useful? info.
There is supposed to be a latch on the top of the door and one on the bottom. When you pull out the handle to open the door both cables have to be pulled at the same time.
Maybe that is why we can't get the door to release and open
What if you pulled on the handle to release the top latch and also pulled on the cable from the bottom latch ? Theoretically the door should release and be allowed to push open. All this is assuming the bottom cable is the one that is broken. If it is the upper cable pull the broken part of the cable attached to the upper latch DOWN.
In either case when you pull on the handle it pulls those cables toward the handle location.
Can you try that?
