1998 E150 Rough idle
Hi Everyone,
Hoping someone might be able to help. I have a 1998 E150, with a 4.2 v6, it has 189,000 miles and runs perfect, except when I stop. Whenever I come to a stop after about 30 to 60 seconds the idle drop down very low or it stalls out. Brief history, at 103,000 it had a bad case of I believe it's called hydro lock, where the seals on the rear of the engine go bad and fill the cylinders with water. Ford said the engine was shot and it needed a new one, I took it home, tore it down (for about a $130 instead of Fords $2300) and have had no problems since. About 5 months ago this idle problem started. I have since changed just about everything on this motor (coil, iav, o2 sensors, etc) no vacuum leaks (between 19 and 21 on the vacuum gauge) fuel pressure is good, throttle body is clean, it's really getting to be a problem since now it's stalling at every stop. If anyone has any idea it would GREATLY APPRECIATED, because it runs so great otherwise I would hate to get rid of it.
Thanks in Advance
Bill
