Default drives in Park and no Reverse

Today, I drove to pick up my cargo. I backed into the loading dock, loaded, and drove away.

My next stop was for fuel. My van reverse well into where I was to fillup.

I drove her home, where I noticed that while in Park, she would move as though in Drive.

And so, now, I have a van that moves in Park and I have no Reverse.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Econobug.

I don't believe the problem is in the trans.
It sounds more like the shift linkage has become loose somewhere between the shift column and the connection down at the trans. Check the bolts at the bottom of the steering column that control the shifting linkage. They are known to get loose and give the feeling of looseness with shifting and can affect starting too.

I would have gotten back sooner with the results but I had to leave town for a week, and therefore have not had a chance to inspect the linkage.
,
Anyway, I arrived home and had to make some more deliveries, and so I figured out how to load without the use of reversing into the loading bay,

On my last delivery, I noticed that she grudgingly would try and engage reverse. That was yesterday.

Today, reverse is back, and I had done nothing to fix the problem. I did a delivery, but I was most cautious about where and how I parked.

Could there have been some other reason for loosing reverse other than the linkage.,

Thank you,

Econobug.

Well, she lasted ten days and then Reverse quit again. I adjusted the linkage, and MLPS but still no Reverse.

I just checked my fluid level and found it to be a little high.

I shall be draining some fluid out, and hopefully, this will cure the problem.

Thanks,

Econobug
