Default HD van 4x4 option

I understand that the excursion will not be available very much longer....i have a 2001 excursion v-10 4x4 and it's been a great truck... but if i can't get another one next year, i may consider a E 350 van if i can get it with a factory 4x4 option like GM has on their 3/4 ton vans...does ford have any plans to offer a 4 wheel drive option on their HD vans....i know that Quigley does a conversion but i'd just as soon have a factory option...

Default RE: HD van 4x4 option

I did a lot of research in relation to 4x4 ford vans recently. I found out that ford does not make a factory 4x4 E-series, and they do not plan on making one any time soon. We just purchased a 2004 E-450 Ambulance and had it converted in Portland Oregon. There are only 4 places in the united states that do commercial conversions on E-series fords, and Quadvan in Portland is the only one that can do an independant front end conversion that maintains a good ride quality and it only raises the vehicle about 1/2 an inch in height. Also they are the only ones that I know of that do not void Fords factory powertrain warranty. They use as many factory ford components as possible and they cover every thing they build with a 3 year 36000 mile warranty the same as ford does. If you are interested you can look them up at www.quadvan.com or call them and talk to Mike, Eddy, or John. They have been absolutely great to work with, and we love our converted Ambulance. Also I have been hearing the rumor about the Excursion going away for about 3 years now, so I don't know how much stock I would put in that subject. Hope this helped. Pete.

As was stated above, Ford does not offer and will not be offering a 4x4 E series anytime soon. The above mentioned companies are very repitable and use oem parts from a F-250/F-350 to do the conversion. I have never owened one, but I have a friend that now has his second one. All I can say is that a 4x4 van turns a-lot of heads and I do not understand why Ford doesn't offer the combination. On my buddies current van and his last one, everything looks as if it was done at the factory and worked/works flawlessly.
