A lil help to a new member!
Hi Guys and Gals,
Well just bought a 1997 E-250 paid $200 bucks she has 149K and I think has a blown oil cooler gasket (i hope) if not it will be a blown head gasket. Why do I think that because there is peanut butter gunk in the radiator and oil pan. Cost me $100 to tow her home and $100 in parts and fluids so far. So $400 deep not too bad so far.
My problem, I have taken all the nuts and bolts of the oil cooler but still cant seem to get it off! There seems to be some kind of brace and bracket with a rubber gromet. I have a haynes manual but it doesnt say much about the oil cooler at all (one paragraph to be exact). Can any one tell me what I need to do to get the oil cooler off the block! I have been told on these 5.4L V8's with the oil cooler these were a problem so someone has to know a trick or something I am not doing.
I dont want to take the motor out as I don't have an engine hoist.
Thanks for the help!
