New looking for info 88 e150
Hello his is my first time ever posting anything on a forum, I have always been able to find good info by taking the time to read and search hi and low for answers. Not much out there on this I have a 1988 e150 van the tranny is slipping in the forward gears seems to be fine in reverse, I did a tranny service with Lucas tranny fix and no results. I am wondering what other year models I can put the engine and tranny from.in my van specifically I have a line on a 94 f150 with 200k for $250 What would I have to do to Install this motor and tranny into my 1988 e150.

Have you considered this?
It may be cheaper and possibly more beneficial to correct the problems with the trans in the 88 as compared to installing a trans with such hi mileage from a vehicle you don't or may not know very much about. You are doing the better thing by inquiring as you have done here, but get several opinions and you might be surprised.

Well to be honest I don't have a lot of experience with transmissions repair, the positive element here is that reverse is working fine and the forward gears will engage if I hit the throttle its almost like a torque converter issue its as if the higher I spike the rpm the more responsive the tranny becomes. Once I get the van rolling the transmission will work fine and I can go way drive so maybe it is something that is easily repairable. Any thoughts?

I just bought this van it had a wheel chair lift in it so it was a handy van. It has 250k on it according to the odometer, I started it up and drive it to my place which was about 40mins from the place of purchase. The blower motor wasn't working all I had was the rear heater and a roll of paper towel to keep wiping the for off the windshield. The heater core is leaking on the passenger side from up under the dash and when I pulled the cover off the engine on the inside of the van there was oil coated from the valve covers all the way down to the bottom of the engine and tranny my guess is the valve covers are leaking. When I pulled the dipstick on the tranny it was over filled by quite a bit so I drained the oil put a new trans filter in it added 1 bottle of the Lucas transmission stop slip and put new oil in and no change to the function. Also I did a engine oil change. The engine seems to have good oil pressure but it runs like **** and the check engine light was flashing the entire time I was driving home its almost like it's running rich. I pulled the sign of off and looked into the throttle body and the intake is just filthy inside coated with black residue. So I have been getting things cleaned up and trying to determine which direction to go with this project but that's the overall assessment of the e150.

It is important to know what engines are in the vehicles and what trans also. Personally , My choice would be based on your needs and $$$$ to correct what you can afford. Switching will be a lot of work and no guarantee everything will work due to changes made between those model years. Both are hi mileage vehicles and there are too many unknowns at this time to make a worthwhile suggestion.
