Default pcm's help

Hi, I just bought a 94 e-350 7.5L that got on fire due to a bad and stupid stereo connection. Story short, the dash, cluster, the ecu and harness melt, engine wise everything else is intact.

I found a donor 95 e-150 and so replaced dash, cluster, and both inner and outter harness.

the only difference I see in the harness is an extra plug that goes where the airbox on the 150 should be but my 350 air box has no plug, i believe is the maf sensor and also the wiper motor plugs are different but the wiring colors are exactly the same so I rewired the old plugs.

I found a pcm/ecu from the local yard for a 95 e350 7.5l (same as mine except 1 year newer) the numbers on the original are F4TF-12A650-YA and the new one is F5TF-12A650-AKA, so they are very similar except the second digit and the last ones.

So I have installed everything and the van starts but I have to step on the gas otherwise it will stall and I get no acceleration. I searched online for solutions and one of them suggested to reflash the ecu by turning the ignition switch on and then removing the ecm fuse, (there are two, one inside the car and another one in the engine bay) so I removed both, waited for 5 minutes and re insert them, but no luck. the car behaves the same way. It will start and everything seems to work cluster wise, lights, gauges, etc but the engine wont accelerate and if I let go of the gas it stalls.

Any suggestions will really be appreciate it.

Thanks

You may find that the #s for PCM units use the same # and it is the suffix(letters after the #) that are important. You could check with a Ford parts dept and they can confirm whether or not you could use the other PCM.
I don't know this without checking further, but,------ first, there are different calibration codes for 150s and 350s.
Second , the "Extra" plug you mention could be for an air intake temp sensor and the PCM is possibly getting the incorrect info and stalling could be the result.
Ford changes many operating parameters among different models of the same year and changes them from year to year, so swapping parts that physically look the same yet can be very different.

thanks for your prompt reply Hanky. So both pcm I am talking about are for the 7.5l 460 engines (e-350), only difference would be the year, mine is a 94. the new one is a 95

it is the harness that is from an e-150, I will try and look for a e350 harness to be sure. I did called the local Ford but the guy was not really helpful and ended up saying that those parts have been discontinued and he could not find any info regarding the pcm's. He suggested me to take the car in for an specialist to take a look but I believe he only said that because he was being lazy and I know a pcm and harness plus labor from them will be priced as much as the whole car is worth

Sometimes you need to shop around and you will find a parts mgr or intelligent parts man/woman that will be willing to help.
Our Moderator and others on this site usually come up with the info you seek, hopefully they will read this.

I was finally able to locate a van at a near by pick-n-pull with a matching vin number same engine and year as mine, so far I have replaced the pcm, (exact same label numbers as the original), engine harness with fuse box, dash harness with fuse box, instrument cluster, tfi module. The van starts and runs but very rough, I can switch gears but it will barely move, it wont rev high. swicth on, car off throws codes 212 and 542. When car running throws codes 411, 412, 126. Any ideas what else should I check/replace
I apreciate any advice. thanks

There is a "shorting plug" that is connected to check engine timing. Could that plug have something connecting the two wires? It should be located near the distributor.
