Unhappy Power door malfunction -- is there a brain?

Hi,
My 1997 E350 has developed and issue with the power doors. The "unlock", just fine, but the "lock" electronically -- I have to manually lock the doors -- ugh. My van has four locking doors -- FDriver, FPassenger, Side, Rear -- all four locks behave the same way -- don't unlock -- so I'm assuming that all four did not fail at the same time, in the same way.

I've looked through forums, wiring diagrams etc. looking for the power lock "brain" or a master lock that regulates the others but have not come up with anything conclusive...

Any ideas?

Nat

Chances are you may need a new door lock actuator

Default door actuator?

You think I need a new door actuator -- I don't think so. Curiously, the door looks work normally intermittently. So I think I must just have a loose connection somewhere.

If I needed anew door actuator wouldn't that affect the single door with a failing actuator -- my situation is that sometimes the "locking" mechanism on ALL the doors works, sometimes not. If it was a dying actuator -- it wouldn't just affect all the other doors.

Any other ideas?

Natbr: I think you are correct. If it were the actuator it would b that particular door only. I would think it is the main switch in the drivers door. I would take it out and inspect it or replace it with one from the junk yard.
You may be able to test it fro voltage drop.
Clean all connectors. Spray CRC electronics cleaner into it.

Good luck!

I thank Go-Part for sponsoring the forum. I take his advise with a grain of salt.

Closing the thread: I removed all the door lock switches and brightened up the posts with emery paper. Reseated them and it seem to have fixed the problem...
