Rear axle repair bearings

Rear axle repair bearings
I have a 2001 E150 with the 5.4L engine and the 9.75 rear axle. I changed the stock 3.55:1 gears to 3.73:1 gears a few years ago. I tow an 8700# travel trailer with this van.
The traction-loc clutches have failed so I opened the axle up to service the clutches. When I pulled the axles I found one of them had some galling/pitting where the bearing runs on the axle. I was thinking about using one of those axle saver style bearings to repair it. The bearing is available from NAPA, this type runs in the oil, it is not lubed for life style.
Does anyone have any experience with these bearings? The question is should I use this type of repair bearing or should I replace the axle shaft and install stock style bearings?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
