A transmission concern

A transmission concern
E150, v6, automatic, 2001.
Moving the selector from park to drive, for example, seems to take an extra second to engage. Once gear engages, seems to go fine.
Is this little delay in taking hold normal?
Is it about to go out?
Or should I do something?
Hope I am clear,
Doyle

RE: A transmission concern
No band adjustment for the 4R70W..
Are the engagements 'very soft' for D and/or R as well as delayed? Or only D.. Some delay would be normal, depends on your explaination of an 'extra second', but if you've noticed a longer than normalor 'extended' engagement time (if you've owned the van for while) might indicate a problem.. A very soft engagement for D&R might indicate a pressure problem, but would most likely affect trans function...

The transmission is functioning ok. I have had the van over a year and it is probably the same as when I purchased it new.
Fluid level has been checked. Nothing else has been done.
If these are normally a little soft with a slight delay, I suppose that is the symptom I observe.
My Toyoto is more positive, less soft.
My concern is if mine is inordinate?
