I have a 2011 edge. It only has 26,000 miles on it and am running into a weird problem. My girlfriend was driving it yesterday and she said the check engine light came on along with the tranny light and then she had no power when pushing the gas pedal. She had to shut if off 3 times and restart it before it would drive. When she could drive the tranny light went out, but the check engine light stayed on. I checked it when she got home and the check engine light was still on and the car seemed like it wanted to shut off on in drive or park. Later in the day all light were out and it drove fine 2 times until the 3rd time in which the check engine light was out but the tranny light came back on and it started making the clunk clunk sound like a tranny makes when it is ready to go out. That was it for yesterday. Today she ran it 3 times and has had no problems at all. All lights are out and it runs great. All fluids are fine and it worries me this happens here and there and then it is fine. Kind of scared to let her drive it. Anyone have any ideas?

 

If you can, consider taking it to one of the auto stores that will read the codes in the computers for free like O Riellys or maybe Autozone. Then with that knowledge take it to the dealer and see what they say. I believe it is still covered under warranty .
At least you will have some idea what is going on and see if what the dealer service dept agrees with what codes you were able to get. Just don't let the place reading for you clear the codes if any are in there.

 

I was gonna take it to autozone, but the lights on the dash are out and they said they have to be on to get a reading, so that is out until they come back on and then the next problem is how long will they stay on.

 

That is the whole idea of computer memory. There should be some codes in the computer's memory. I think the guy at Autozone is mistaken. Try another store.
