So my husband installed a aftermarket radio and subs into the Escape before I took over driving it. The subs were removed but the radio stayed. We noticed that when he installed the aftermarket that the key fob would no longer unlock and lock the doors so we have to do it manually. Also the radio with not turn on when you turn the car on, you have to hit the power button, it also won't hold any radio station memory or sounds settings. Is there a way to fix this?
I have bought a stock radio to maybe install if needed but if I can keep the aftermarket I would like to so then I can bluetooth my phone. The stock radio I bought doesnt have an AUX or a tape player so I would only be able to listen to the radio. I do have another question about the stock radio though. It has a button on the top right with a phone symbol and the word MUTE under it with a line separating the two. What is that?
Any ideas for anything I described? Thanks!

 

I would suspect there are some errors regarding how the wiring was hooked up.

All I can tell you is ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, evidently constant power is available and when connected correctly , it will keep things that require memory to be always available from memory.
That wire of the present radio is not in the correct place. It possibly is also affecting the remote operation of the key FOB.
What should be done, if hubby remembers, put everything back the way it was. then follow the directions exactly. .If he feels he did that then I would suggest you have someone who is more familiar with electrical wiring install whichever radio you choose. There are some things and a few pieces of equip that when used can make the installation easier and function properly. It's not the first time errors were made by folks with limited experience.
