Just bought an 09 V6 Escape and the overhead shows 26MPG. I will wait until the tank is near empty to fill and hand calculate. Are these overheads very accurate?? My Dodge Ram is always off by a mile or two in the positive direction.

I dunno as far as the accuracy on the MPG, however I need to check the speedo and the obometer for accuracy. I have two MB's and both are off a bit. Will report back.

Well to answer my own question and let others know, I have checked the mpg on my 09 Escape and the computer generated estimate is off. The reading on the instrument panel reads anywhere from 1.5 to over 2 miles per gallon better than a true hand calculation. I have gotten 22 twice in local mix of town and Interstate driving within 25 miles of home. We took a little Sunday drive last weekend and logged over 200 miles on a tank at conservative speeds of 60/65 miles per hour and that tank full checked in at 25.5 hand calculation. The dash reading was 27.1. I am pleased with this because it is the same mpg as our old Taurus got. This Escape is V6 4X4 and I bet a solid trip Interstate driving will produce 28mpg.

So just as my Dodge truck, the computer display is off. Showing more than you are getting.
