Default 2002 Escape cig lighter

Ok, so my 2002 escape, which i bought used from my Mechanic back in October, the ciggarette lighter doesnt work. I don't need the lighter itself, but i'd love to have an additional power point. Now i'd love to do the work myself and i was wondering, how do i get the dash off, so i can get to the Lighter. And also, is the aftermarket Lighters/plugs from AutoZone or Advance ok?

Thanks a Bunch

Did you check the fuse first?

I'd stay with an OEM replacement unit.. Better quality and fit, and the electrical connections wouldn't need to be changed.. I can send you the panel removal info if needed..

If you can send me the info that would be great. Also, where would the Cheapest/fastest place to get the OEM replacement part? Also, what tools would i need to get the center panel off?
