2003 Escape continued
Ok got my Escape back today about 3 PM and told nothing wrong with her and that the computer had stored no codes. Told that if they could not duplicate I was out of luck until she died on the road. SO I was at the store and when I came out she would not start. Just before I turned her off the ABS light came on. Starting to see something interesting here. If I run my Air Conditioning and the radio or even radio and the lights the ABS light comes on and all else goes out. Now my way of thinking and I may be wrong. If the COMPUTER is not storing any codes when all of this stuff is going wrong could it be the computer itself or is it the Altinator that is the bad boy in all of this. Had the Tow Truck out and the guy said that the last time they had to jump her it came up that it was the altinator ( dealership said the battery) But it is all starting to happen again and it is a brand new battery. It just does not feel right. She seems to studder and shimmy a bit when at a stop, kind of like she just wants to die. She just seems to not be getting enough juice and I really do not want to have her die on the road. I have a extended warranty and I almost think they just don't want to figure it out until it runs out. Now I am going to take her in to the dealership in the morning, tow truck driver followed me home to make sure I made it and told me to go out in the morning and try to start her and if she starts turn everything on and then turn her off and try again. This way they can come out and tow her in so she is not under her own power. He said that they may look a bit harder if they have her come in on the back of a tow. [&o] I am sad as I really like this car and I know it is not her fault that the people working on her are a bunch of *****. I just want her back to normal and feeling right again. Also thank you to those of you that answered my last post, it does help a bit to know that there really is someone out there reading this and trying to figure it out without ever seeing the car.

Wow! Sounds like whoever is working on this one is in for a real treat. I have worked at a Ford Dealership for the last 4 years now and never came across a vehicle with those symptoms. Please post your VIN# here or PM it to me. I will check the Ford site for you.

I found this (Special Service Message)............................
16811 2001-2003 ESCAPE - INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL CONDITIONS WITH POWER WINDOWS, LOCKS, FOBS, RADIO, LIGHTING, CRUISE CONTROL OR OTHER ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES
SOME 2001-2003 ESCAPE MAY EXHIBIT INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL CONDITIONS WITH POWER WINDOWS, LOCKS, FOBS, RADIO, LIGHTING, CRUISE CONTROL OR OTHER ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES. INSPECT THE DRIVERS KICKPANEL AREA CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX THOROUGHLY FOR EVIDENCE OF WATER INTRUSION AND/OR CORROSION, WHICH MAY BE THE CAUSE OF THE CONCERN. ALSO CHECK RELAYS AND CONNECTORS FOR ANY EVIDENCE. IF FOUND, CHECK THE FOLLOWING AREAS: A-PILLAR VERTICAL SEAM, OVAL BODY PLUGS, KICKPANEL TO UPPER DASH SEAM, ELECTRICAL WIRING GROMMET AND SURROUNDING SHEET METAL FOR DISTORTION. NOTE, FOR ALL 4 OF THE MENTIONED AREAS, IT MAY REQUIRE REMOVAL OF THE LEFT FRONT FENDER TO WATER TEST. ALSO CHECK FOR WINDSHIELD LEAKS AND FOR LEAKS FROM THE SUNROOF DRAIN TUBE IF EQUIPPED. LOCATE AND REPAIR SOURCE OF WATER LEAK TO PREVENT REPEAT CONCERNS.
I also found this TSB....................................
TSB
06-9-3 PCM FAILURE - ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES INTERMITTENT - INOPERATIVE
Publication Date: April 20, 2006
FORD: 2001-2004 Escape
ISSUE:
Some vehicles may exhibit a powertrain control module (PCM) concern that results in no crank, no start, or malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with one or more diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) present. There may also be intermittent or inoperative power windows, door locks, keyless entry system, lighting, speed control, radio, instrument cluster warning lamps (possibly dimly illuminated instead of being off), or other electrical accessories. The concern is typically more noticeable in wet and/or cold weather conditions.
This may be the result of connector terminal corrosion in C134, C263, or the central junction box (CJB) which results in either high resistance between the male and female terminals or a short between two or more circuits due to bridging through any corrosion that may be present. Corrosion in C134 may be the result of improper positioning/sealing of C134. Corrosion in C263 or the CJB may be due to a water leak in the left hand A-Pillar area.
Hope this helps?

RE: 2003 Escape continued
Thank you very much! Hope you don't mind me making a copy of this and putting it in my files. I will just be over joyed to have my Escape back. Funny thing is while I was getting my loaner car today this lady asked me how I like my Escape and I had to tell her I would buy another one if it came down to it as I really love the car. I put 8, 200 miles on her last September traveling cross country and she drove like a dream and I felt safe. Thanks again!
