Default 2003, gauges going hay wire.

I've got a 2003 escape and the speed ometer, rpm gauge and fuel gauge are going hay wire . The needles will jump back and forth and the head lights will flicker all at the same time. Does anyone have any idea what would be causing this?

One idea? hundreds!
You must have some major voltage fluctuations.
First make sure all the battery cables, the cables to the alternator and a whole army of ground connections are in tip top shape. That includes any ground straps from the engine and transmission to the body and any grounds to the headlights etc.
If that is done and the issue continues have the alternator and battery checked.
