Default rust on back door seems

I had the same problem on my rear door seems on my 2008 Escape. I scraped the rust off with a screw driver & painted it with Eastwood Rust Encapsulator paint. My escape is black as is this paint, so it looks nice. It seems to be working no rust after about several months.

I had the same problem on my 96 Explorer in 2005. I did the same fix and it had no rust in 08 when we traded it in.

Angry 2010 Ford Escape

We have a 2010 Escape that has rust on the tailgate and passenger rear wheel well. It was serviced by the local ford dealer on 2 occasions for repair for surface rust. We tried to explain to them this is not surface rust but within the seam. Needless to say no one would listen. We are know over our 60,000km warranty by 5,000 km and the rust is back even worse. We've been told by the dealership nothing can be done by them, it is the seam you have to deal directly with Ford. Ford Warranty came back with " NO GO " they will only cover if it perforates the metal. I can not express how unsatified we are with the Ford Dealership and the actual product Ford has put on the market. Why after the 60,000 bumper to bumper warranty do they conveniently agree " it's in the seam " which is what we have been telling them all along.

We were even looking into purchasing a new 2nd vehicle either a Fiesta or Focus but with what has transpired in regards to our Escape we definately will not be purchasing a Ford product any time soon or in the future.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear about your problem. It is no fun dealing with any dealership or auto manufacturer. Just wondering if you ever rust proofed. I have been taking my vehicles to Krown for years. Just traded my 2001 Pontiac in on a 2012 Escape. The Pontiac was totally rust free after all that time with Krown applied every year. I live in Ontario, Canada...lots of road salt in the winter. Krown or Rust Check both work very well IMO. I bought my new Ford a week ago and it is already Krowned. Just something to consider.
