Default 2013 2.0 AWD Gas Mileage

Hello everyone.

Just curious about what kind of MPG other owners are getting?

So my wife has had her Escape for 5 weeks. It has 1617 miles and I was ignoring the computer that says she is averaging 19.1 MPG becasue I know how much those numbers flucuate based on conditions. Her Trip B has not been reset since we have owned it and that says 17.9 average.

Well then I saw her CC statement. She has spent $312 on gas since we picked up the car. There is $272.54 in charges on her card and $40 cash on Monday. Her statement does not list how many gallons she has purchased or even the price per gallon just the total. But we buy gas almost always on base and it averages .20 cheaper than a typical gas station. Im guessing about $3.65 average per gallon. Then take into account it had a full tank when we got it, she has half a tank left now and I am estimating between 85-90 gallons.

Now I know 1617 miles in 5 weeks is a lot. Here is a quick breakdown of her usage.

390 miles round trip twice to visit her sister (99% highway driving)=780
454 miles to visit my parents, again over 90% highway driving. = 454
For work she drives 11 miles each way 8 of which are on the highway.
She only works 14 days a month and has driven her escape to work 11 times since she has owned it. 11x22=242
total of 1476 so that leaves 141 miles of her going shopping and local errands.

I am just thinking with over 90% highway driving she should be above 25 mpg average. Oh and also, she does have the Eco award for anticipation and acceleration on her dash if anyone thinks that matters.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

I have a 2010 Edge with 32,000KM or 20,000 miles and since January of this year my read out shows I am averaging 11.7 Km or roughly 24 M/G. have not reset it after every fill up. My truck is heavier and is a 6 cylinder. My driving is about 60/40 city/highway. your smaller vehicle is not getting better mileage than my Edge

I have had my 2013 Titanium about a week and over 1000 miles now. I take meticulous records and have filled 3 times so far. I have seen 54 mpg on a DOWN hill mountain ride but, that tank netted me only 25.2 mpg. I drive 7 hi way miles to work at 75 mph and the rest of the time in city. I average 22 mpg so far but, am trying my best to get better using the "Sport" mode on the transmission (holds it in gear longer).
I will keep you informed as time goes on.

Sometimes mileage improves with use. A heavy foot on the throttle can affect mileage too. A lot depends on how the vehicle is driven.

Default 2013 Escape Mileage

Hi All,

Just purchased a 2013 Escape SE with 1.6 Ecoboost, FWD a few days ago. I haven't had the vehicle long enough to really monitor the gas mileage. However, the owner's manual explains that it takes a few thousand miles before the true mileage capabilities are reached. In any case I started out getting 12 mpg on day one which, has been increasing each time I drive the vehicle. At this point I am averaging 20.2 mpg rural/city driving.

Will update information after some miles are on the vehicle.

Hello all,
Blew my first tire already at 1500 miles on a 4x4 road driving thru a mud puddle. These Continentals are pretty soft and low volume, be careful (NONE on-line as yet).
That being said, I had to limp home over 100 miles (still driving about 70ish +-) in the mountains too. In dash shows 28+ MPG and it has been very accurate so far. I am keeping it under 70 (Colorado is 75+) and it seems to be getting 25+.
Ok OK, it says 4 wheel drive, I'm just testing the limits...

Default Escape Gas Mileage

Hi All,

I have about 700 miles on the 2013 Escape SE with 1.6 Ecoboost, FWD and just got back from a trip to St. Petersburg, FL. Averaged 28.5 both Highway and city miles. At 70-75 the car was getting 36 mpg. I have been using 93 octane which seems to work best with the engine and provides a few more horsepower.

My 2013 Escape has 700 plus miles on it now and I am getting much better mileage. It takes a few thousand miles (according to Ford) before you get optimum mileage but, so far I have been averaging 28-29 city and Hwy about 60/40. What I do is fill up the tank and then reset the trip and the mpg. Then at the next fill up, I count the gallons purchased, then divide that number by the miles driven. I have been keeping a log of each fill up and have been getting a consistent 28-29 mpg average. I do reset both the miles and the MPG each time I fill up. I can then average out the logged miles and, gas prices. Also, I have been using 93 octane as well.

What I found with averaging from the beginning is that lower mpg from break in are averaged in with after break in miles.

The computer is pretty much dead on.

We now have 3000 kms on our Escape. We just completed a 1400 km (870 miles). About half was flat and the rest quite hilly. Driving between 100 and 110 kph (60-70 mph) we averaged just over 8 l/100 km, or about 29 mpg. I only use regular gas, almost always from Shell.

To date, we are using just over 10 l/100 km or about 23 mpg.
