2013 Escape - Single Metallic Knock upon Cold Start
I've taken my 2013 Escape to my dealership regarding this issue. They replaced a shock, despite my utter confusion as to why they'd think that's where this noise is coming from. I plan to record the noise since they apparently couldn't recreate it, but if anyone has any advice, I'd REALLY appreciate the feedback.
This only happens when performing a cold start. Letting the vehicle sit for 5-10 minutes doesn't cut it. So, I typically only hear it when starting it first thing in the morning, or when leaving work.
It is a single, non-repeated, metallic 'knock' that sounds from what seems to be the driver's side of the vehicle, either towards the center or rear of that side. It happens while I turn the key to start. That is the only instance in which I hear it.
Ideas, anyone?
