Default ABS Problems

My ABS seems to be screwed up. Every time I brake, andI mean every time, the ABS starts to react, then after about 5 minutes the light goes on and turns it off completly. Does anyone know what this problem is? Someone told me it was the pump, but i'd rather have more advice on it from others before I go out and buy one. Would sensors cause it to go off all the time? Is the pump hard to replace?

Sorry if this type of problem was already covered, but I couldn't find it if it was. I've seen posts about just the ABS light going off and no problems, but my ABS obviously has problems every time I hit the breaks, then the light goes on.

Also, is taking the fuse out a good idea? I did this to disable it so I don't have to wait 5 minutes before it disables itself.

You need to find out what codes are stored in the ABS module, may be the only way to know what to look for.

Check the ABS sensors for looseness and the tone rings for cracks and looseness. If they all look good then you will need to get a code, not likely to be the pump.
