Exclamation Check Engine light is on in my 2001 ford escape can anybody help me decipher the code

Hello my check engine light has been on for about a month now and my car is starting to stutter when in park or when the brake peddle is depressed. I cant find any reliable shops in my area (I live in a small town) with a machine to check my code. So I took a video of my engine light code blinking and was wondering if anybody would tell me what it means.

Thank you again in advance for your time.

When the CEL flashes like that, its a warning that the misfire is severe enough allowing an excessive amount of raw fuel to enter the converter. If you drive it too long with that condition it can damage the catalyst. If the converter is damaged, they tend to get a bit pricey..

How many miles, what engine, and have you done any tune up/ignition service?

Thank you for the info the light came on after a really bad snowstorm when the car was sitting in the snow for a couple days. Isnt the blinking engine light supposed to give off some kind of code to tell you whats wrong?

No,, and yes..

OBDII isn't like the old system that you used to count flash/separator code.. Continuous flash 'is' telling you that the system is rich, excessive, and can/will damage the converter.. If you have anyone around you (some of the auto parts stores have readers) that can pull the code/s it would help in a direction to go. Since you say its 'sputtering', certainly sounds like a cylinder/s misfiring.

How many miles on your Escape?
